As we begin the holiest week of the year, St. Joseph Church invites you to join us for the Palm Sunday Tenebrae Service at 7 PM.
Tenebrae, meaning “darkness” or “shadows” in Latin, is a deeply moving liturgy that has been part of the Christian tradition for centuries.
The sacred service of readings, music, and the extinguishing of candles gradually envelopes the church in darkness, reflecting on the sorrow of Christ’s Passion and the approaching darkness of the tomb. The hour culminates in the strepitus—a loud noise symbolizing the earthquake at Christ’s death.
Come and spend an hour of quiet reflection and prayer surrounded by the beauty of scripture, music and candlelight.
